The "is it necessary" part applies to me quite well. So do the others, but I have a hard time shutting up. Luckily I've partnered with someone who knows how to enjoy the silence.
Reminds me of Depeche Mode's song, "Enjoy the Silence".
mermaid :: oh, you're a talker too!? i love to talk. i'm usually talking about my observations and sometimes they can be silly to some people but people watching/human behaviour is fascinating to me. i've had people tell me "wow, you talk a lot" but there still around and listening so what does that say :)
depeche mode, never listened to that song. did you go to the wedding? btw, read your comment on anil's blog. at first i thought...what do you mean you have seen what i am?!! then i understood. i think :)
Those three lines mean a lot to people who love their solitude and who like the rest of the world to shut up for a minute. But if the rest of the world did indeed kept quiet wouldnt the search for peace and solitude lose its charm. Im more of a listener, I love to hear people talk, gives me a truckload of info about the person and as well as the topic :)
On an entirely another level, I would just pass on these saying via email and not pay much heed to Sai Baba. From what I know about him, I wouldnt give shit about what he has to say.
Sometimes I make conversations because of the silence. And usu wonder if it was even necessary. This will run thru my mind here on when I hit those moments!
Its true in every sense that we at time speak to break the silence or even trying to break the ice between our relation with other fellow human..Is it worth to utter or words that maybe does not make any sense to us or to those who recives it

If everybody follows this - the world will be such a nice place to live in.

P.S: my dad is an ardent follower of Sai Baba.
harsh words for Sai Baba!
i'm more for the message and less for who is saying it :)
so you'd make a good listener for all my talking!
I usually make a good listener but when speaker is a beau like you I would have difficulty paying attention to the topic :P
how sweet :)
(i'm terrible at taking a compliment)
[does that apply to blog comments?]
[hope not...]

A month or two ago I also received this quote in an email. I saved it in my "Wisdom" file. It's a keeper :)
thanks for stopping by...
p.s. I read Oranges Aren't the Only Fruit and The Alchemist one right after the other a couple of months ago. Interesting coincidences...
